The Plenary sessions represent a series of 6 inspiring presentations of 15-minutes, offered by successful entrepreneurs, top executives, experts and professionals with over 10 years of experience with impeccable professional reputation and a modern vision of trends and tendencies redesigning the economy and society. These inspirational presentations have a motivational role, they present various perspectives and focus on trends, tendencies, analyzes, presenting the opportunities and issues that the changes generated by these trends in the business environment and in society reveal.

#TOPIC and CONTEXT*

Timisoara will be the European Capital of Culture in 2021. It won the competition in front of other cities in Romania, because it understood the importance of culture as a pillar of sustainable development for a community and region. It understood that for a city and region to develop culture, it must play an important role in catalyzing and involving young people in society, as a safe way of giving young people a possibility of expression, integration and development. It understood that culture creates communication and collaboration bridges between local administrations, cultural and creative centers, the business environment and society, each having the interest to contribute to creating a favorable and attractive context for development and progress. On the background the fact that Timişoara has a complex social structure with a multi – trans-cultural specificity based on a tolerant spirit and multiethnic coexistence we believe the strategy to transform culture as a basic element in the polarization of the development through the projects proposed by the Timisoara European Capital of Culture strategy are from the beginning with a great chance of success. In Timisoara, peaceful citizens coexist in more than 21 ethnicities and 18 religions, reflecting two major features of the local population, namely intercultural and high tolerance, are only two of the expectations that can help to achieve this.

Through this plenary session we wanted to bring to Romania and the entire world the challenges, problems, opportunities and projects that Timisoara proposes to transform the city and region into a model of economic, cultural and social development both for our country and for the whole of Europe.

• What is the local administration's strategy for the economic, cultural and social development of the city and the region?
• What are the potential, challenges and development plans of education? How does the education system adapt to the demands of the economic environment and the demographic, social characteristics of the region?
• How will the business environment and civil society involve helping the Timisoara European Capital of Culture 2021 project achieve its goals and help the cultural, economic and social development of the city and the region?
• What will the people of culture do to boost and increase the influence of culture in the sustainable development of the region?
