CONFERENCE 1 – How will innovation, technology and current trends influence the future of economics at a global level?
We are living in troubled times. The only constant element of the 21st century is change. Geopolitical troubles and the evolution of technology are just two of the factors that shape the times we are living in. The capacity to understand the trends of present times and the trends of the future is vital in order to prosper in a more complex and competitive world than ever before.
The greatest challenge of today’s leaders is not finding the most accurate predictions, but rather having a wider, open comprehension of the trends that redefine and reshape the world we are living in and its transformation into an informed point of view of the future, and the way this future will shape organizations. And perhaps the most important thing is acting today to prepare for what comes next. The greatest risk is not having the wrong opinion of the future, but rather the possibility of acting too late in the necessary direction.
According to World Economic Forum the most important 10 trends that define and influence the times we are living in are:
- Deepening income inequality
- Persistent jobless growth
- Lack of leadership
- Rising geostrategic competition
- The weakening of representative democracy (less confidence in political institutions and processes)
- Rising pollution in the developing world
- Increasing occurrence of severe weather events
- Intensifying nationalism
- Increasing water stress
- Growing importance of health in the economy
Another interesting perspective is the one provided by Kjaer Global Trend Snapshop 2015+:
- Self-Tracking – real-time health and human-centric
- Circular economy – green growth and sustainability
- Collaborative culture – sharing economy and social value
- Betrapreneurship – disruptive innovation and female power
- Lifelong learning – augmented reality and deep learning
- Conscious capitalism – social capital and community
- Radical openness – building bridges and collaboration
- Purpose driven – culture of purpose and inspired action
With this conference we are trying to understand, from the perspective of managers, entrepreneurs, specialists and experts, their vision of the way that innovation and technology will reshape the future and influence the development of the business environment at a global level.
The future has never been so full of promise, possibility and unpredictability. From biotechnologies that will reshape our existence to the new borders drawn by nuclear power and deep sea mining to the brain-computer interface, these are just some of the directions in evolution that will define our future.
