Bernhard Petermeier

Appointed to select and lead the Technology Pioneers program, consisting of the world’s foremost innovative start-up companies with the potential to significantly impact business and society through the design, development and implementation of new technologies and business models. Every year about 30 companies are selected worldwide and integrated into the World Economic Forum as Technology Pioneers.

I am a scientist and tech analyst striving to bridge the gap between technology and business. As Global Leadership Fellow at the World Economic Forum Technology Pioneers I continuously round out my picture of how technology is shaping the world of tomorrow. 

I scout and screen the world's most innovative start-ups that address challenges in fields such as artificial intelligence, medtech, fintech, biotech, digital security, environment and energy. I feel privileged to connect with the entrepreneurs that are behind some of the most impactful business and tech innovations of our time and plug them into the Forum's mission to improve the state of the world. My journey as inventor, engineer, scientist and business analyst is tremendously helping me in this endeavor.

I'm also writing for the World Economic Forum Global Risks Report, Global Information Technology Report and Forum Agenda blog on specific technology risks and opportunities. In addition I manage the Global Agenda Council on Artificial Intelligence and Robotics, a think tank to challenge conventional thinking and create innovative solutions for key global challenges.

I see my future in remaining an active part in the start-up ecosystem, especially on the investors side, such as private equity or venture capital.
